Hey, I still exist!

I feel as though I should start blogging again. I do still play FFXI sometimes (got BST to 75 at last, huzzah!), and I’m occasionally awesome in other ways.

I have my own business now; it is a small pet sitting and dog walking business, and it is doing surprisingly well for being so new. Unfortunately, the money making game (which is terribly exciting in its own way) makes it difficult to find time to play games like I used to. I have a stack waiting for me– and I’ll get to them someday.

In other news, one of my friends is releasing an XBox Indie game. It’s pretty neat, and everyone is excited about it. My husband (remember Vadek from Carbuncle server, anybody?) actually did some voice acting for it, and I helped to test it a bit– MY NAME is in the credits of a game. How amazing is that?

The game is called Hedge Wizard; I’ll write more about it later! It isn’t out quite yet, but it is coming very soon.

PAX 2010

I’ll be at PAX all this weekend, playing new games and generally being geeky. I’ll write a wrap-up post when the weekend is done, but if you want to follow my adventures, hit me up on Twitter.

DRF <3

I’m so in love with my linkshell lately.

The Valor Cape and the Veela Ring weren’t all that happened last week.  After another Dynamis and some more VNMs, I now have a Bard’s Roundlet +1 (a piece of gear that I’ve been after for YEARS!) and a Marching Belt. I feel like it is Christmas for my Bard. :)

I’m so very fortunate to have this linkshell.  My work schedule is so goofy that I imagine I would never be admitted to another endgame shell at all, but here I am, in one of the best shells on any server, and despite my inconsistent playtime my linkshell-mates have done so much to help me build and gear my character.  It makes a difference being with a group of people who understand priorities, and who enjoy helping others.  It really means a lot to me.

I’ve been working on Magian Trials lately.  I’m tired of Earth weather! Argh!

Pixies pillaged for fun and profit!

Over the last few days, a couple of things happened that I had not expected to happen.

Saturday, we did a Dynamis-Valkurm, and a Valor Cape dropped from the very first hippogryph we fought.  We have had horrible luck with Valor Capes historically.  But one dropped, and I was called to lot it!  Sexy paladin, hurrah!  To make things even better, TWO MORE dropped, and Lambtor and Soulessknight each got one too. High-fives!

Monday afternoon, we did some VNMs, and a little tier 3 pixie dropped something very special…

And it is mine… ^.^

I can’t even believe it!  Two things I never expected to own within one weekend– and one of them a Veela Ring!  (FYI, freaking Ruthven STILL resists elegies).  I’m so thankful to my linkshell!

Bard is serious business

Oh hey, who’s that good-lookin’ bard, and what’s that, a Shadow Coat she has on?

Not quite! ;)

Valkyrie's Coat

Best armor for bard debuffing in the game, pow!

It took a little bit of OCD to get the Cursed Coat -1 made, and a lot of patience from Zilo and Finalwolf who kept synthing them for me. Consequently, I now have enough NQ Cursed Coats to supply half the bards on the server, so if anyone needs one at less than AH rate, let me know.

In other news, I’ve been fighting the Shadow Lord in the Fiat Lux every night this week. It’s a pretty fun fight, but we haven’t had any luck with Nocturnus Gear just yet.

Tanked my first Tiamat earlier this week. It could have gone worse than it did. :) No gaiters, sadly.

Lambton Worm Desegmenter

It isn’t often that I get to report the acquisition of a new title, but I got one yesterday! DRF has killed LW before, but never when I was online. He’s a very large worm. Very large. And a bitch and a half to try to tank. Know how little sandworm likes to strip your buffs now and then, and will occasionally use Desiccation to screw with your job ability recast timers? Lambton Worm likes to do that too, only more often. Then he likes to bash on you after he eats your haste and marches and sentinel.

Big. Very Big.

Big. Very Big.

We had nearly full drops on him too.

I’m having a sort of paladin dilemma. I really just can’t keep up with the other paladins in our linkshell; my gear is pretty crappy comparatively, and I’m not sure what to do with the job, what with the whole level cap increasing and all. I probably have more fun playing paladin than I do my other jobs when I get to use it and I’m not in a situation where I spend the whole time feeling guilty that I’m not as good as whoever I’m trying to keep up with. It’s really fun to solo on– more fun by far than Red Mage, at least in my opinion. So, what it comes down to is, I want to level up my paladin for entirely selfish reasons, even with its shitty gear and my inability to keep up with anyone else.

I think I’ll just level up my bard first; the world has to forgive me if I level bard first.

When good belts go bad.

Anybody have a spare Gleeman's they can sell me? ;)

Extra shiny.

So, it’s been a little while since I have updated.

I’ve been busy in real life, so my playtime has been a bit limited. Even so, I’ve managed to accomplish a few cool things lately.

Beastmaster is now level 65, and slowly but surely climbing. I am still loving the job, but haven’t found a stellar exp spot for my current level. I’ll get there eventually.

My paladin is shinier than ever! Got a koenig cuirass about a month back from lovely, generous Odin. Kings are so overrated these days.

So Koenigful! Also, why is that creepy elf staring at me?

I’ve also finally got around to working on Dancer as a subjob for my paladin. It’s at level 29 currently, and hopefully won’t take much longer to finish. My only complaint about Dancer is that the entire time I’m leveling, I keep thinking about how much fun it would be if I were playing paladin with the finished subjob instead.

Fought a Sandworm today, got KA and the trash drop. It can’t all be 100% awesome, but I was just happy that I was able to tank– it always makes my day!

Hmm.

I have a sewing machine now, despite having no idea how to sew.

Here’s the question– should I try to make a costume to run around in at PAX next year? My friend Olya went to PAX dressed as Sephiroth, and it was beyond awesome. Of course, she is also talented in making things, whereas my attempts at costume design generally end up unwearable or I cause bodily harm to myself while attempting to use the things necessary to construct them.

I keep thinking I could totally try to make an Altair from Assassin’s Creed costume– it’s just a white tunic and a hood, right? And I’m in love with Altair, just so that everyone is perfectly clear as to why I would want to parade around a gaming conference in that get-up. More video games should have protagonists like Altair. He’s sexy, not completely emo, and is a male character who actually looks masculine. How crazy is that?

I signed up for the FFXIV Beta. I kind of doubt I’ll be selected due my general lack of luck in anything SE-related, but I decided it would be worth a try.

RMT gets philosophical

rmtwtf

The rest of the tell was “RMT site is always with you^-^ “.

I don’t feel that commentary is even necessary, lol.
